A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home from April 2010- January 2012
Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer- Worked for a 900+ call funeral home assisting with all funeral home and cremation duties. I helped with preparation for funeral services, including but not limited to, setting up/ delivery of flowers, casket, urn, photos, and other personal keepsakes/mementos of client families. Kept prep room within OSHA standards, as well as, filling out all embalming reports, and preparation of any documents related to burial services and cremations of decedent. I ran errands, such as, death certificate retrieval/ filing, floral deliveries to client family personal homes, and picking up general supplies for the funeral home. Other general duties include, ushering people to their cars for procession, parking cars for procession, and driving funeral home vehicles for services and family pick up. In addition, I was one the night embalmers. My duties were respectful removals, preparation of remains of the deceased, including but not limited to, embalming, dressing/casketing, lifting the deceased, and applying cosmetics to deceased. I was on-call and spent the night at the funeral home at least once a week; my on-call shifts were 30 hrs long. In addition, I was a preceptor for Gupton-Jones Funeral College, and taught funeral students embalming techniques and practical application of said techniques.

Inventory Control Assistant-Worked doing inventory control with the Warehouse Manager. Helped catalog inventory using spreadsheets and organize inventory for sales and shipments. Apprentice Funeral Director/Embalmer- Apprenticed at two family owned funeral homes. I kept funeral home and prep room within OSHA standards. Worked doing removals, embalming, did general duties during funerals (drive hearse, arrange flowers, etc.), and assisted during at-need arrangements. I helped maintain cremation records, death certificates, and other important documents relating to the decedent/funeral. In Addition, I worked most visitations and assisted with many nights calls, removals, and embalming.

Upon graduation, started apprenticing at funeral home and began helping with daily funeral home related tasks.
